Knowledge is not competence

Competence-oriented programs for sustainable development

Current studies from social and educational sciences state that the development of competences is now more highly valued than the simple acquisition of knowledge. The most effective and sustainable way of learning is engaging in activities in which learners are able to acquire knowledge independently, to experience the impact of this knowledge and to apply it.

Successful learning is not primarily about the produced knowledge, but the ability to creatively and proactively find new ways to do things and to generate knowledge. Moreover, it is important that we are able to use this knowledge and experience in complex and unforeseen situations to find solutions and make the right decisions at the right time.

Online Learning

Due to the rapid development of technology and increasing globalization, electronic learning is being utilized more and more, becoming an increasingly important learning format. Online tools such as computer-based training (CBT), web-based trainings (WBT) and apps enable knowledge transfer to take place regardless of time and location. Online learning is delivered online and you can participate using devices such as a PC, mobile phone or tablet. Examples of online learning include taking a teacher-led course or earning a degree via internet connection rather than in person at an educational institution. Interactive training courses allow you to directly impact course content, pace and outcome and acquire knowledge in a short space of time.

Course content is broken down into different learning sessions, making it easier and quicker to follow and digest. By using a variety of digital learning formats you will have the opportunity to learn individually and independently, but also sometimes in small groups. Through a mix of multimedia you will become familiar with new approaches and you will be able to measure your own individual learning success.

Classroom Training

Through interactive learning methods, our trainers help you to engage actively with the learning content and exchange knowledge with others. Switching between theoretical input sessions and practical exercises allows the theory to be put into practice. Having a physical presence in a classroom environment allows learners to work individually or collaboratively with others on the same topic guided by our expert trainers. At the same time, you have the opportunity to expand your network and exchange experiences with other participants from all over the world and to find solutions for common challenges.

Self-Study

You decide what, when and where you would like to learn. Self-directed learning sessions, either fully independently or guided by an expert, provide you with a framework to acquire and apply knowledge according to your specific needs. During the self-direcred learning phases, you receive specific work orders that can be worked out independently using learning materials for problem-oriented learning. Our self-study sessions are always related to the specific training and refer to the learning content.

Blended Learning

Blended learning combines online and classroom training to create an integrated learning environment. The variety of online, offline and real-time delivery, as well as self-directed learning sessions, offers convenience and flexibility with a focus on competence development. By controlling your learning pace, you can achieve self-directed learning success. You also have the opportunity to expand your network as you are in seamless communication with the trainer and other course participants. We believe that blended learning is the best way of learning through encouragement of a self-guided learning experience by taking advantage of the plurality of our methods.
